Runway Gen-4

Our verdict

Runway Gen-4 is our go-to for cinematic client work where quality cannot be compromised. The 4K output and camera control system are best-in-class for professional production. We use it primarily for hero content, brand films, and any deliverable where the client expects broadcast-grade quality. The cost is high, but when you factor in the reduced post-production time compared to cheaper alternatives that need cleanup work, the effective cost per usable second is competitive. Where Runway falls short is volume work. If you need 50 social cuts from a single campaign, the credit burn adds up fast. For that, we switch to Kling or Hailuo. The API is well-documented and reliable, which matters when you are building production pipelines. We have never had an API outage during a client deadline, which is more than we can say for some competitors.
