What is Frame Interpolation?
AI technique that generates intermediate frames between existing video frames, effectively increasing the frame rate and creating smoother motion.
How it works
Frame interpolation creates new frames between existing ones to increase a video's frame rate. A video shot or generated at 24fps can be smoothly converted to 60fps or higher. The AI analyzes motion between consecutive frames and synthesizes plausible intermediate frames. This is useful for slow-motion effects, smoother playback on high-refresh displays, and fixing choppy AI-generated video that was produced at low frame rates. Advanced implementations handle occlusion and complex motion correctly, while simpler methods can produce artifacts at object boundaries.
